The challenges

India is facing a growing plastic pollution problem. Carbon emissions are on the rise, climate change is accelerating, and microplastics are infiltrating our bodies. These problems have started encroaching even on our sacred places of worship.

Blueprint Water and Temple Connect are committed to addressing these critical challenges.

India's growing plastic problem

India discards CRORES of single-use plastic bottles. EVERY SINGLE DAY. The consequences are devastating: plastic waste overwhelming landfills, polluting rivers and oceans, and infiltrating even our most sacred institutions—spaces meant to inspire purity and reverence

The Invisible Health Risk

Scientific research confirms that microplastics leach from plastic bottles into our drinking water. The health toll is severe: these invisible particles infiltrate our bloodstream, accumulate in vital organs, and trigger long-term damage.

The Carbon Footprint Problem

Single-use plastic and glass bottle production generates massive carbon emissions while depleting non-renewable resources. The irony is stark: as we fight climate change, these bottles accelerate it—releasing greenhouse gases and exhausting finite materials that undermine our sustainable future.

Our Mission

Every day, millions visit temples and sacred spaces seeking spirituality, health, and blessing. But hidden in this devotion is a growing challenge. Every day, India consumes crores of plastic bottles. Much of it ends up in landfills, rivers, and oceans. Even within our places of worship. We are on a mission to help solve this.

  • Temple Connect is a global initiative dedicated to documenting, digitizing, and distributing India’s timeless temple heritage, while preserving its spiritual core. It works closely with temple trusts, cultural institutions, and tourism bodies to create sustainable, future-ready models. Millions visit temples daily, creating heavy reliance on single-use plastic that conflicts with the values these spaces represent.

Blueprint Water is reimagining hydration for a sustainable future. By packaging drinking water in innovative paper-based cartons, we're tackling India's single-use plastic crisis head-on—protecting our land, rivers, and oceans while dramatically reducing the carbon footprint of every sip.

Together, the two organizations offer a scalable alternative to plastic and promote environmental responsibility. The custom bottles also help increase awareness around the temple economy and community in India. This partnership sets a new standard where faith is matched by measurable environmental action.

  • Blueprint Water is addressing India's plastic pollution crisis with an innovative solution: premium drinking water packaged in paper-based cartons. The brand's sustainable packaging delivers a 70% reduction in plastic consumption, maintains the lowest carbon footprint among all single-use packaging alternatives, and offers a 100% recyclable solution made from 67% renewable, FSC-certified materials. As part of its environmental commitment, Blueprint contributes 1% of revenue to environmental causes. The paper-based cartons ensure zero micro plastic contamination, providing consumers with a guilt-free hydration choice that doesn't compromise on quality or planetary health. The cartons also be customized to provide a premium and personalized experience.

Being a sustainability focused brand, we will continue to push the boundaries of innovation to improve the environmental benefits of our product in a step-by-step manner.

  • PET bottles have many disadvantages compared to paper-based cartons. In terms of environmental impact, plastic comes from crude oil and natural gas, both of which are non-renewable resources and lead to acceleration of global warming. Blueprint cartons, on the other hand, have 65% less plastic, and are made from sustainably sourced wood pulp, as certified by FSC. Plastic production has higher carbon emissions and it takes much longer to breakdown. Paper packaging emits fewer greenhouse gases over its lifecycle, reducing carbon emissions by almost 60%.

We have carried out an LCA through an accredited third party agency to ensure that we have developed a product that has the lowest carbon footprint of all single-use packaging, can quantify the savings we can deliver and also identify opportunities to improve the sustainability of our product further.

In terms of health and safety, PET bottles contain micro- and nano-plastics as well as “forever chemicals” like PFAs that can pose health concerns. Blueprint cartons avoid these contaminants.

  • Glass bottles have many disadvantages compared to paper-based cartons. In terms of environmental impact, glass production requires heavy use of non-renewable silica sand, which is becoming increasingly scarce. Sand mining leads to significant land deterioration, habitat destruction, and loss of biodiversity. Blueprint cartons, on the other hand, are made from 67% renewable, sustainably sourced wood pulp, as certified by FSC.

Glass production is exceptionally energy-intensive, requiring furnaces heated to over 1,500°C. Combined with the substantial weight of glass bottles, this results in dramatically higher carbon emissions throughout production, transport, and recycling. Paper packaging emits fewer greenhouse gases over its lifecycle, with Blueprint cartons delivering approximately 60% lower carbon emissions compared to glass alternatives. We have carried out a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) through an accredited third-party agency to ensure we have developed a product with the lowest carbon footprint of all single-use packaging. This assessment allows us to quantify the environmental savings we deliver and identify opportunities to improve our product's sustainability further.

  • Blueprint's water undergoes a comprehensive and rigorous 10-step purification process to ensure exceptional quality and safety. The process combines multi-stage filtration (sand, carbon, micron) with UV and ozone disinfection (ozonisation), reverse osmosis (RO), and mineral addition to achieve high purity with a perfectly balanced taste. Our manufacturing facility is ISO

Every batch of Blueprint Water produced also goes through rigorous post production testing in internal and external laboratories to ensure that the highest levels of assurance for all our consumers.

  • Blueprint differentiates itself from other paper-packaged water brands in India through three fundamental advantages that set us apart operationally and environmentally.

First, our infrastructure is designed for scale from the ground up. Unlike competitors whose systems may struggle or break as volumes increase, Blueprint's facilities are built to adapt seamlessly to high-volume production, maintaining consistency and reliability as demand grows. Second, we operate a fully automated, end-to-end production line where no human contact occurs until products are fully packaged and ready to ship. This automation ensures unwavering quality control and hygiene standards at scale. Third, we practice responsible water sourcing by using municipal water supplies rather than extracting spring or mountain water. This approach eliminates over-extraction of precious natural resources and removes the need for long-distance water transport, keeping our carbon footprint low even as the company scales nationally.

  • Blueprint’s paper carton use a 5 layered packaging consisting of a total of 67% paper, 28% plastic and 5% alu-foil. All the layers are extruded on top of each other preventing splintering and creation of micro particles like in the process of blow moulding of plastic bottles. This approach allows Blueprint to provide safe, contaminant free water that has a shelf life of 4 months.
